recovering at home

I'm currently at home recovering from jaw surgery.  Everything went as well as it possibly could have during the surgery and in the hospital recovering.  My top teeth are in front of my bottom teeth!!  Trying to keep my eye on the big picture here.

I'm sticking to the liquid percocet every 4 hours because I can feel the achy-ness/ pain starting to come back at the end of that time period.  Right now everything is revolving around getting enough liquids, taking medicines at the right time and trying to get rest.  Last night was difficult.  I find that if i'm sitting not moving around for long (like when you're sleeping haha) my nose will start to get stuffy and breathing gets more difficult.  more on that subject later.

Maybe I'll post a picture later, I seriously look like little miss piggy right now!

  1. Yay!! You made it through!! I'm so happy everything went well! I know the swelling stinks, but in a few days you will start to see the difference. Sleeping up is horrible... I'm still not cleared to sleep flat. I have a wedge that I use and stack my pillows on and it helps me be more comfortable. It sounds like you are doing good with keeping on top of your pain. I hope you feel better! The worst part is over!

  5. Hey glad to hear you made it through!! The first few days of sleeping and such are the absolute worst! Hopefully you will start to get some relief and be able to sleep through the night. I ended up asking my surgeon what kind of decongestant/ cough suppressant I could take because I was so miserable from lack of sleep. So if it gets really bad maybe try that? I am glad to hear that you are keeping on top of the pain and your teeth are where they should be!!! That is the best thing to keep in mind throughout recovery, just keep thinking why you did this! It sounds like you are keeping your spirits up, which is great! Just stay on top of the pain and try to relax. :)

  6. Hi Laura, I've recently started to read your blog and it's great! Congratulations on your surgery! I'm about to start the process myself in the UK and reading your blog has been a real help to me so thank you. I hope your nose stuffiness goes away soon :-)
